- at any Virginia DMV office or any Virginia Beach Public Library branch, by closing time
After that, same-day registration continues through early voting and on Election Day; you will vote a provisional ballot. Details are on the state’s same-day registration page. Check your registration on the state’s voter information portal.
Voting by mail
- Apply online or return a paper application by email or mail. Applications must reach the registrar by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
- Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and reach the registrar by noon Friday, Nov. 6.
Bring ID
Bring an accepted form of ID. Voters who neither show ID nor sign vote a provisional ballot and have until noon Friday, Nov. 6, to send a copy of their ID.

On Election Day you must vote at your own precinct. Find it with the state’s polling place lookup or call 757-385-8683. City offices are closed Nov. 3, and the landfill closes for the day, but curbside trash pickup runs as normal.
