For couples

ValenTide’s at the Virginia Aquarium. On Feb. 14, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m., the Aquarium, 717 General Booth Blvd., held an all-inclusive evening for ages 21 and up: gourmet food stations served course by course at different exhibits, an open bar, keeper talks and science stations among the sea turtles, sharks and rays. It was $150 per person, ID was checked at the door, and proceeds went to the Aquarium’s foundation, which runs its stranding response program, the city said.

Sharks After Dark. The Aquarium’s monthly adults-only night (21 and up) runs on the first Thursday of each month, 6 to 9 p.m., with a DJ, drinks and after-hours access to the exhibits; general admission was $38 and members $19 in 2026. Check the Aquarium’s events page for February.

Astronomy 101: Valentines in the Sky. Kempsville Recreation Center, 800 Monmouth Lane, paired with the Back Bay Amateur Astronomers Club for a class and a telescope walk outside, weather permitting. In 2026 it was Feb. 25, 7 to 8:30 p.m., $5 with registration.
