SNAP and Virginia Fresh Match
Virginia Fresh Match is a statewide network of farmers markets and food stores that doubles the value of SNAP dollars spent on fruits and vegetables; at a market, you take your EBT card to the information table and get tokens. The program lost its federal funding this year, but the state put up $1 million and the program expects no disruption, WHRO reported Oct. 1. Enter a Virginia Beach ZIP code on the Virginia Fresh Match map to see which local markets take part. Ask at each market’s table before you shop.
