What the festival is

The festival says its purpose is to celebrate patriotism and to show support for active duty and retired military personnel and their families, bringing civilians and service members together over the holiday weekend. The 2026 Boardwalk displays included Navy Region Mid-Atlantic patrol displays and military working dog meet-and-greets from Naval Station Norfolk, according to the pre-show activities page.

The festival lists past performers including Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band and Cody Johnson. In 2026 it ran May 22-24 with Zach Top, Brooks & Dunn and the Red Clay Strays.

Tickets

All concert tickets for 2027 are sold through Front Gate Tickets, and the festival warns that third-party resale sites and scammers claim to have tickets. Tickets arrive by email as digital print passes shortly before the festival, one email per ticket, and each barcode scans once, the festival site page says.

The festival sells several tiers:

  • General admission: the shows on the beach, food from regional vendors (including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options), drinks and shopping.
  • VIP: dedicated entry lanes, a stage viewing area with its own bar, and a lounge with seating, air-conditioned restroom trailers and its own food vendors.
  • Early Entry Pass: entry one hour before doors open. It must be paired with a festival ticket.

The site also offers ticket and hotel packages. Prices are posted on the Front Gate Tickets page.

Parking and the Oceanfront that weekend

Memorial Day weekend is the start of the summer season at the Oceanfront, and the concert site sits at the south end of the resort area. Paid parking is in season by then: the city charges at meters and municipal surface lots from April 1 to Oct. 31, its three garages are open around the clock, and the city says lot hours can change during large special events. Residents can buy a $50 annual Resort Area parking voucher.

What this means for you

If you plan to go, buy from Front Gate only and plan to walk in from a garage or lot. If you are staying away, expect the south end of the Oceanfront to be busy all three evenings. For the city’s Memorial Day ceremony, closings and trash schedule, see our Memorial Day guide; for more on the resort area, see our Oceanfront and Boardwalk guide.
